Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041001 Firefox/0.10.1
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041001 Firefox/0.10.1

FireFox seems to set the permissions on newly downloaded files in a way that
prevents them from being shared over a network.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create the directory c:\tempshare and share it on the network (in windows,
right-click on the directory > sharing and security > enable "share this file on
the network").
2. Tell the download manager to save all files to c:\tempshare (Tools > options
> downloads > save all files to this folder > c:\tempshare)
3. Download the latest firefox build (or any other file)
4. Go to a different computer on the network, open the shared folder, and
double-click on the newly downloaded file.

Actual Results:
A dialog opens saying "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or
file. You may not have appropriate permissions to access the item."

Expected Results:
Open the file

My lan uses NetBEUI (not TCP/IP) for its network shares.

Easy workaround: copy the file, delete the original, then rename the copy to the
name of the original.
