Upgrade went well. I shut down browser and restarted. Received an error about application needing to be shut down to complete (or similar). I then realized Firefox was running in another Windows XP session. I switched over and shut that instance of Firefox down. Then logged back on to the original session. Firefox started fine, and RC2 had been successfully installed. Perhaps a warning should be given in the wizard. Maybe a check for other running instances. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.

It does check for running intances. I take it from your case the running instance was for a different username? Please elaborate.

Yes, I was logged on as another XP user. As soon as I quit the Firefox instance for that user, I was able to restart Firefox and the installation was successful.

Also I notice that the Critical Updates icon is still present. When I click on it, it says that I need Firefox 1.0 RC2. Maybe this is related to what happened when I upgraded to RC2.

Found the Critical Updates icon problem. Reset app.version to 1.0 and all is OK.
