In no recent version of firefox I used the Import Wizard showed anything. It is
just simple blank. The Next Button is "clickable", the Cancel Button too, but
there is nothing where I can choose what to import.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Import Wizard: File -> Import...
2. Look
3. See nothing that works
Actual Results:
Import Wizard doesn't work.
I'm using Mac OS X (Panther), and I get the same thing; the Import Wizard appears, I click the "From
File" checkbox, and click Next. The Import Wizard goes away...and nothing else appears to happen.

The Screenshot shows the Import Wizard without any working function. The Next
Button does nothing. The Cancel Buttons cancels in normal behaviour.
I can confirm this bug (OS X 10.3.5, Firefox 0.10.1). The import of bookmarks
does not work yet. First, the screen is pretty useless if there is only one
option to choose from. Second, even if I click the file button and press next it
brings me straight back to the bookmarks window without letting me choose the
file to import.

I'm running XP SP2. Firefox freezes whenever I try to import my favorite places
from explorer. I was able to create a favorites.htm file in explorer, bug I
can't import it.

Import wizard still doesn't work (on Panther 1/18/05).
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; WinNT4.0; en-US; rv:1.8b2) Gecko/20050221 Firefox/1.0+
I've had Import IE history just not do anything at all.
I had it work correctly -once- out of about 7 trials; then it imported only
the MAIN FOLDER of history (this year) and no past years history in subfolders
of IE History.
I've had Import IE (just History and Saved History) run for more than 23 minutes,
using 97+% of my 266 mhz CPU, about 4 of these instances.
Confirmed on Firefox 1.0.1 w32. Import does not import certificate - in fact,
it seems to do nothing at all.

Confirming, see this as well with 1.0.3. Could anyone test if this is still an
issue with a trunk build?

I think 236300 and 295683 concern this bug, but I don't understand the comments
for 236300 (it seems likethey were written by and for pro programmers only), and
295683 concerns only Mac.
I am using Firefox 1.0.2 (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.6)
Gecko/20050317 Firefox/1.0.2) (this is a polish version, pl-PL, I have no idea
why en-US shows in Help/about) on MandrivaLinux 2005 LE (Mandrake 10.2).
'File->Import' in the Bookmarks Window lets me import Bookmarks only from a file
(that option works correctly), and 'File->Import' in the main browser window
shows no options. There is only the text: "Import profiles (etc.) from:". There
is no input area.

This is still a problem in 1.0.4 on FC4. Doing File/Import for me brings up the
Import Wizard. At the bottom of the Import Wizard is the Cancel and Next
button. At the top is the question "Import ... from:". However, there is
nothing in between. You can click on the Next button, but nothing happens. You
can click on the Cancel button to make the Import Wizard go away. That is it.

What is the background of the bug? If Firefox cannot find a usable profile for
migration it just behaves that way.
So is the problem that there is some usable profile from another application
available but just not detected or is the problem that the UI looks broken
because it doesn't give any options?

My problem is that the UI is broken if it can't find a profile to import.

I'm seeing the same behavior in Linux with Firefox 1.5. The import wizard comes up but there are no options to import anything.

This UI is very confusing and should not appear if nothing is there to import.

jbug@ednixon.com: the problem you report in comment 6 seems to be a different issue. Please search bugzilla for duplicates, and report if you can't find one.
