It's nice to be able to view all headers (esp. with the expand/collapse UI in the message and preview windows), but a side effect is that when I forward a message, the FULL headers are included, including ones inserted by my MTA (e.g. spam scoring, sneakemail info, etc). This is then a pain to delete when I don't want my recipients to see all this info. I want to *see* the headers, not *share* them Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. select View > Headers > All 2. forward a message Actual Results: notice the full headers table in the new message compose window for the forwarded message Expected Results: Insert normal headers. If I want to forward a full message with headers, I'll include it as an attachment, or copy those headers in myself. version 0.8 (20040925)
I disagree. I often want to forward all headers, for example when reporting spam. Would a quicker way to turn off View All Headers mode satisfy you? See Bug 150908. Either that or we need another preference to make it work your way.
I suppose the reason I left view all headers on was that I used the collapse
feature to "toggle" it on or off easily, which is otherwise not accomplished
quickly.
I understand the thinking behind the current behavior, it's just that in
practice, that behavior gets in my way more often than it helps (most of my
forwards are not spam reports). There's something misleading in the way it's
worded-- "view all headers" does not, to me, imply "...in replies and forwards."
That's what the pref should look like:
View > Headers
( ) All
( ) Normal
-----
[ ] in replies and forwards
or, alternatively, under message > forward as:
inline
with all headers
attachment
If this belongs under bug 150908, let me know and I'm happy to close this one
and repost there.

My recommendation is to not use View|Headers|All *at all*; see bug 154712. If you need to see all the headers for a message, use View|Message Source. At any rate, as far as forwarding is concerned, the program is working as designed. Severity => enhancement (In reply to comment #1) > I often want to forward all headers, for example when reporting spam. A large number of people, including myself, believe that "reporting spam" is an exercise in futility which merely adds more unnecessary traffic to the web. However, if you're determined to do so, you should be using Forward As Attachment for those cases.
Severity: minor → enhancement

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter.
