RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 260836

People

(Reporter: fennec, Assigned: mscott)

Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041001 Firefox/0.10.1
Build Identifier: 20041103

The Thunderbird RSS reader should provide a mechanism to send HTTP
authentication for RSS feeds which require it in order to be viewed.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1) go to Manage Subscriptions
2) Add the RSS feed which requires HTTP authentication to view.
Actual Results:
A dialog box popped up indicating "<url of feed> is not a valid RSS feed."

Expected Results:
Provide a HTTP authentication dialog when trying to verify the feed.
I am running Windows XP with Thunderbird 0.9. My college campus uses websense
for http validation, and I have to open up Firefox and authenticate before my
RSS feeds work - the status bar says "... is not a valid RSS feed.". It would
be great if the HTTP authentication login popped up automatically.
