Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Use firefox 1.0PR and go to http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox/qa/softwareupdate.html 2. follow the instructions as described there 3. Actual Results: After updating, the firefox start menu icons are added to the start menu Programs root folder Expected Results: The icons should be placed in the Mozilla Firefox start menu folder.

I can confirm that happened to me too. Was this intentional? I hope not. This with 2 separate PR to RC2 updates on separate machines.

Updating from Firefox 1.0.1 to 1.0.2 did not add the menuitems to the program root folder. So I don't think this is still a problem. AFAICT the changed updating system has solved this: Updating from 1.0PR - 1.0RC2 was done by installing several xpi's, while updating from 1.0.1 - 1.0.2 is done by downloading and running a windows installer file.
