When right clicking on an object (such as a link), the context menu that appears
is painted noticeably slower than in previous builds; I can easily see an
incomplete menu with a white border before it is finally painted within a second.

Noticed this on two different Windows machines (2000 and XP) with different
profiles using the same theme in RC1.
Ouch! firefox.exe was using consuming between 85% and 99% of CPU time!

I had two windows open with about 10 to 12 tabs each plus a couple of extra
windows opened from external applications with only one page each.

After closing many of the tabs in the first two windows (that had been open
overnight, some of which would likely have included Java or Flash content),
firefox went down to 10% to 20% of CPU time, but has crept up to 50% to 60% of
CPU time while I do nothing (with some background windows still open).

Context menus now have a definite lag before being painted, but at least I can't
see the incomplete picture or an undrawn border/shadow.

I guess there's something worse going on here with resource usage and the
context menu drawing is just a symptom.
I believe this is related to the reported problem.
The second spike shows a 2.5 second delay when clicking on a Personal Toolbar
menu in FireFox 1.0 Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.5).
Once the menu is displayed subsequent menus load quickly. I don't believe this
is due to paging as the memory usage shown is below physical memory of 256Mb.

i can confirm this bug affects me on firefox 10 running on windows 7 pro x64. :(

chrome and opera didn't have this slow down performance.
Marking this as incomplete because it's not possible to reproduce with the information in this bug. If you have more concrete steps in how to reproduce this on a clean profile in a recent version of Firefox, feel free to reopen.
