Steps to reproduce: 1. Perform a clean installation of FF 1.0RC2 (installer version, no old profiles). 2. Uncheck "use Firefox Start as my home page" on the installation wizard dialog. 3. Let FF start and check actual home page. expected result : home page is blank (or maybe the migrated home page from IE) actual result : home page is the Firefox Start page.

This option should be *unchecked* by default whenever there is an existing install (arguably no matter what), as an existing install means I already have a homepage selected, and I should not have to perform an extra (unexpected) step in order for my homepage to not be wiped out. Not to mention what happens to multiple user profiles on an XP-class machine, does this reset the homepage for all users?
still occurs though I have only tried it on pc's with google as there home page

Summary: unchecked option "use Firefox Start as my home page" during install is not respected → First time installs should use blank or migrated start page when installer option is unchecked.

The "use Firefox as my start page" box really triggers overwriting the existing start page. The only real bug here is that we display the checkbox when we probably shouldn't.

Proposed Solution Currently, the Win32 installer only allows one browser to import during setup. This should be changed to allow the user to select multiple browsers to be simultaneously imported and merged with Firefox settings. A list should be created of the homepages from imported browsers which is then presented to the user during the setup/import wizard. Firefox Start should be the default selection, but users would be able to select one of the others if preferred. If the installer is upgrading an existing Firefox installation, the existing page should be the default selection.
