268026 - Bad sorting in virtual folders which are searching in subfolders

When searching over a folder structure like this

+-Sent
  +-2002
  +-2003

(search in Sent with 'Search Subfolders' marked)

the sorting order (which should be by date, ascending) is wrong: First the Mails
from the Sent-Folder are sorted by date descending, followed by mails from the
subfolders in order of the subfolders. Example:

mail 1    23.01.2004
mail 2    13.03.2004
mail 3    14.01.2002
mail 4    30.06.2002
mail 5    16.08.2003

When forcing to sort ascending by date by clicking the date column it is
temporarily corrected but after switching to another folder and back again it is
wrong again.

Steps to Reproduce:



Expected Results:  
Sort by date ascending over all the mails in the virtual folder and keep this
setting.

This might be related to Bug 265869.  Marcia will go back in and try to confirm
this bug later.

All these bugs could be the same, IMHO: the problem is always the
non-persistence of the sort order in virtual folders.

Access protocols (POP/IMAP/local) seem to play no role in this.

Agree on dupe; the one I've picked as "the bug" already has three dupes against 
it.
