User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041020 Firefox/0.10.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041020 Firefox/0.10.1 In linux, firefox keep hanging when loading a very large web site. (for example: http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/development/i386/Fedora/RPMS/ ). I have waited very long time (10mins) and it still hanged. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. firefox 2. http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/development/i386/Fedora/RPMS/ 3. wait Actual Results: hanged without completion Expected Results: should complete the loading
This is somewhat related to this bug report - Firefox (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050317 Firefox/1.0.2) does momentarily hang on long web sites that are really long, have a LOT of drop down lists, etc. Sample URL: http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/archivepix.html - it hangs on my newer system (Pentium 3.0+ Ghz) for 10+ seconds before unfreezing again. In contrast, Mozilla 1.7.5 (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041217), the page renders almost instantaneously. I've seen this behavior with other sites - such as http://www.cactusranch.com/devils/msgboard.html (not as bad, but the same). This is a case where Mozilla clearly outperforms Firefox, IMO. I also had to abandon one particular web form I set up with dozens of drop down lists that would hang Firefox for 30 seconds (has since been recoded w/o all the DDLs, so I don't have that sample URL ATM, I could reproduce it, I think, if you'd like).
