In a closed thread view first message does not show flagged messages in the
thread below.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Change to threaded view
2. Mark mail flagged (not the first one)
3. Close the thread

Actual Results:  
Indication that there are flagged messages is lost

Expected Results:  
I would expect that if mail is flagged under the thread the top mail is flagged
 differently to indicate flagged mail under.
Exp. Mail is flagged red, thread mail that this message belongs to is flagged
orange.

As originally reported, this bug isn't about the flag but about labels:

Flag is a distinct on/off option (and is now called "star" on the trunk).  And now, labels have become tags, and a single message can have multiple tags.

Having an indication at the top of a collapsed thread for status in other messages in the thread is problematic even in the simple label case:  Suppose several children have several different labels?  How would you suggest that be shown at the collapsed level?  It can't be in any sensible way.

Maybe the thread icon could incorporate a star if there are starred children, and/or a tag icon if there are tagged children, but that icon is already used as indicator for watched (and ignored) threads.

Are there any plans to incorporate some indication that a collapsed thread has flagged messages? The flags aren't all that useful if they get burried in a collapsed thread and there is no way to search for flagged messages.

But there is a way to search for flagged messages:
  Status, is, Flagged (or Starred, in 2.0 onwards)

The easiest way (I see) is the incorporation of a star (flag) with a downward arrow or plus sign in the corner used for all the flags in one thread! Just an indication, that massages underneath are starred.

So you would need three stars:
- one for 'the message is flagged' (star icon)
- one for 'the message in the thread is flagged, but not the top message' (half star with arrow or plus icon)
- 'the massage is flagged and also some messages in the thread structure are flagged' (full star with arrow or plus icon)

Hopefully this is not to complicated to add!
