User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041103 Firefox/1.0RC2
Build Identifier: thunderbird, english, win32, version 0.9 (20041103)

just got two spam mails today and they get listed inside a folder (inbox) for
example. as soon as one of those two emails get selected the overview list area
gets corrupted. it turns either completely empty or some of the columns go
blank/missing. the one mail empties the "classic view/layout" immediately, the
other corrupts some of the columns, so that only size, attachment and the
subject column are left.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. try my exported mail/spam inside your thunderbird. maybe you can import it?
2. put the two mails inside any folder and experiment with clicking on them
3. try to select different layouts in the "view" menu

Actual Results:
the overview/list area gets corrupted

Expected Results:
the overview/list area to display just normally

i tried to analyze the spam mail, and it occured to me, that they have a very
long bcc-field, and all the mailaddresses in the bcc: area are only separated
with a semicolon (;) adding up to a very long line. maybe this is some sort of
bug/"buffer-overflow", and thunderbird cant split up the bcc field properly, or
its a malformed email disregarding rfc standards.

i can export the two spams as .eml or .txt files i guess, but i dont know if you
guys can import it to your local folders, or i could forward the mail to any
devs if someone would like to have them, just message me. maybe i can add some
screenshots for starters though.
this is my spamfolder as an example. there you can see the spams insode a
folder in an overview. the two mails that corrupt the overview are the one
below the marked one (the two hightechauction.com mails are the problematic
spams).

the following screenshots will display what happens once you click/mark those.
this is the first "hightechauctions.com" spam mail in the folder. as soon as
you click/mark it, the whole overview disappears, but the preview area of the
mail displays just fine. i have disabled all html and stuff for email/news
display.

the next spam mail from hightechauctions will only delete certain rows of the
list area.
this is the second spam mail from hightechauctions.com
this mail just partially corrupts the list area, some of the columns disappear.

be sure to check the long bcc: field.....
so once you click elsewhere in the folder on a non-problematic email, the
display just turns back fine, some actually the items in the overview/list are
still there but somehow not displayed correctly or corrupted, as you can even
click on the various rows, even if the area is completely empty or corrupt.

this is the last screenshot i will upload to display this bug. in case anyone
needs the whole spam mail as raw data, or some of the header fields or anything
the like, feel free to send me a comment.
hmmm, this is most interesting, i run thunderbird 0.9 with various extensions,
and i just tried to experiment to see of the bug is still there when i disable
all my extensions. so i just disabled everything from my extensions (didnt
uninstall though) and restarted thunderbird.

the two problematic spam mails now behave a little bit different though.

i can click them all right, but as soon as i click on that little "+" symbol
next to the subject area in the preview area to expand the headers of the spam
mails, the headers get displayed all right, but then the overview area gets
corrupted the same way like with my activated extensions before. will upload
another screenshot.
now i have disabled all my extensions inside thunderbird 0.9

when you click that spam mail and expand the headers of it, the list above goes
blank the same way as before (automatically), when the extensions were still
enabled.
May be you should try to save the mails in question and attach them too?
