the process crashes a short moment after closing a window,
with stacktrace pointing to somewhere Qt's eventloop

1.open edit/preferences dialog
2.close it with cancel button

Qt is being remove on trunk (bug 380196), and I don't think it's worth
the effort of trying to maintain it on branch.
