MailNews bug 193857
I'd vote for this one if it let me. Should this go under Mail/News instead?
(In reply to comment #2) > I'd vote for this one if it let me. Should this go under Mail/News instead? what do you mean? who is "it"? so it seems that other people before me asked for this feature..... so what is happening... are the guys going to include it or is it going to be left out?
that would be a core networking issue - mailnews doesn't even know a new dialup connection was made, never mind how to terminate the dialup connection.

(In reply to comment #4) > that would be a core networking issue - mailnews doesn't even know a new dialup > connection was made, never mind how to terminate the dialup connection. ok.... i understand.... but is something going to be done about it or is it going to be left out?
it's not going to be in 1.0, that's for sure...
(In reply to comment #7) > it's not going to be in 1.0, that's for sure... ok... thx a lot... i think it's sad but what can we do.... i shall look forward to it if it ever comes.... by the way mr David Bienvenu, would you know of a way to automatically disconnect from a dialup connection after having checked ones email with thunderbird... i've tried the hangup tool but it only disconnects you once you actually close thbd....
Fabrice, I always just pick "disconnect" from the context menu of the windows networking icon on the task bar - that terminates the dialup connection, afaik, no matter what thunderbird does. If you're using POP3, tbird doesn't hold any connections open; if you're using imap, you can click the offline button to make tbird release the imap connections.
