Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0

I've noticed that on OS X, Firefox does not have the ability to use the proxy
settings as defined within the System Properties -> Network Preference Pane.

This is quite a useful feature Safari currently has for portable Mac users like
myself who rely on the "Locations" feature in OS X, which allows us to define
multiple network setting profiles including proxy details. Currently, Firefox
1.0 can only autodetect proxy settings on a network (I suspect by looking for a
proxy autoconfiguration script), but not read the system settings.

I have considered writing a script to parse
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist on an OS X system
where the proxy settings are saved and returning the values in the format of a
proxy autoconfiguration script as a crude, but effective workaround.

Is anyone else interested in helping make this long needed feature be developed?

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Change OS X "Location" to change network settings and proxies accordingly.
2. Attempt to use Firefox without manually editing/changing the proxy settings
within Firefox.

Actual Results:
Firefox has not received the new proxy settings available in the system settings
to Safari and Firefox must be reconfigured manually accordingly.

Expected Results:
Firefox should be able to update the proxy settings, depending on the active
"Location" from the system settings without being restarted.
