Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 When dragging a mailing list from the contacts pane into the recipients section of the window, the addresses aren`t resolved correctly if the list have a description. For exemple, if you drag a list called "Foo" and having "Bar" as description, and the account domain is "mydomain.com", Thunderbird will try to send the e-mail at "Foo <Bar>@mydomain.com". This problem doesn`t occurs when there's no description or when double-clicking on the list. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Create a mailing list with at least a name and a description 2.Open the "Compose" window 3.Drag the newly created list in the recipients section from the contacts pane Actual Results: The address will be "list_name <list_description>@domain_of_the_account". Trying to send this e-mail will give a "unknown or illegal alias" error. Expected Results: Same thing as double-click : Put the group name and description there and send the e-mail to persons on the list. Thunderbird version used : 0.9 Firefox 1.0 release also installed Mozilla suite 1.6 also installed
Confirming with Mozilla 1.8a5 build 2004111004 on WinNT4. Hmm ... supposed to be fixed, see Bug 237553. Regressed?

Reproduced with TB 1.0+0414, Win2K. Same issue if dragging from the Address Book window, in TB and in Mozilla (1.8b2-0417). Note that with Mozilla, if you use the "Select Addresses" window (click the Add Address tool from the compose window) and pick the list there (either by dragging or by using the To: button), the list name is transferred to the address list without the bogus "autocompletion". This dialog is not available under TB -- see bug 252665.
