Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; de-DE; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041108 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Thunderbird 0.9 When using Thunderbird's import function for Outlook, many imported emails which contain the sign € (Euro sign) don't look like in Outlook before: the € sign is being replaced by the ¬ sign (not sign, AC in Hex). Example (before/after): Sum 37.93 € ----------------- Sum 37.93 ¬ The content type of the the original emails looks like this: Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 while after importing it shows up as Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1; format=flowed Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Let Thunderbird import from Outlook which contains mails with Euro symbol 2. Look at imported emails 3. Actual Results: Emails containing ¬ symbols instead of € Expected Results: € symbols

Try putting UTF-8 and "Fonts->Languages->Apply default to all messages (ignore character coding specified by MIME header)" I've the same problem, this is work for the majority of email, but not for all, let me know about you.
Just tried 1.0 RC with the same results. Changing to UTF-8 as Marco proposed doesn't help, except that question marks instead of the not-signs show up. I've also tried various other encodings with no success. When I look at the files where Thunderbird stores the emails it's obvious that the Euro signs get screwed during the import process, because the not signs are stored in these files. As Marco said most mails do have the Euro sign in the correct way but there's also a relatively high amount which are corrupt after importing.

Sorry, wasn't aware of that!
The latest trunk still corrupts many Euro signs during import.
