Ive tried this twice to download the worldof warcraft beta (2.5gb) usning my
favourite mozilla, but it seems that apart from not being able to corretly stat
the download progress (negative numbers in data trasferred) it also corrupts the
archive

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.log into fileplanet/gamespy
2.download wow-beta.zip from one of the free servers
3.unzipping the archive fails due to errors

Actual Results:
should be self explanatory

Expected Results:
a good healthy zip archive

failure after 2x 2.5gb download: I was cursing so bad you dont want to know

turns out other downloaders does the same, Im starting to suspect the files on
the fileplanet servers (I now tried 2 different ones) are bugged

sorry
Bug 184452 Necko - Allow handling of files > 2gig (>2 GB)
Bug 243974 Download Manager can't handle files > 4gb

The files are not necessarily bugged, but there are problems with filesizes, I
don´t think in Mozilla only. Have a look at the bugs mentioned over there.
I don´t think your bug is invalid, but certainly it is a dupe of one of the bugs
mentioned in the bugs above.

Perhaps it was this: Winzip 9 supports a NEW compression method for Zip, called
"Enhanced deflate". WinRAR supports decompression of ZIP archives created using
this method since v3.30 and higher. Current version of Winrar is 3.41. HTH
