I used the upgrade now feature in Release Canidate 1.0 to upgrade to 1.0
yesterday , and although it installed, and had all the appropriate bookmarks and
extensions, it couldn't connect to the internet at all. I first killed all my
extensions, evenutally tried uninstalling and reinstalling entirely...with the
same couldn't connect problem. I then reinstalled RC1.0 which worked fine. I
then reproduced the whole problem over again.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Use update feature in RC 1.0 to upgrade to 1.0
2.
3.
Actual Results:
No abilty to connect out to the internet at all. Nothing had changed with
regards to my internet connection, and no other programs had difficulty
connecting at this point.
Expected Results:
Connect...view pages, etc.
There was no error message or anythiing unusual other than the standard can't
reach a page message.

Do you use a firewall like Zonealarm ?
never a blocker

Ok, it is firewall related:
For some reason after running Firefox update, killing zonealarm doesn't actually
stop the process (truevector thing), rather it just kills the systray icon and
disables notification. So, unistalling zonealarm completely, and then updating
to Firefox 1.0 worked. After all that, I installed the latest copy of
zonealarm, and everything works fine.

There is an easier solution. Open the Zonealarm configuration and remove the
Firefox entry.
Zonealarm should ask again if you try to open a page with Firefox.
