User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 This is a usability feature request, not a bug. You know when you click on a link that takes you to an in-page anchor, like samepage.html#item12 ? Usually the item is in the middle of a long page and your browser aligns the viewport so that the item is right up at the top. However, when the item is near the bottom of the page, it is harder to find, because it is not in the expected top-of-page position. Furthermore, (this is a secondary issue) butting the item up to the top of the viewport is not ideal. The eye tends to skip it over and look for something with more whitespace around it, or something more centrally located. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. go to http://www.mozilla.org/src-faq.html#12 Actual Results: notice that item 12 is not aligned at the top of the viewport Expected Results: suggestions: 1- somehow highlight the target, either with a bigger font, colored background, or animation. 2- somehow obscure the content above the target, thus drawing the eye to the target. I think a 50% transparent white area above the target that dissapeared when the user clicked or scrolled on the page would be ideal 3- somehow make it that the target appears at the top of the viewport a- by allowing the viewport to show whitespace beyond the bottom of the page (a la paper-centric apps like PDF viewers) b- by increasing the height of the statusbar to make up the difference.
