269371 - Automatic and silent compact folders still not working

In my prefs.js

user_pref("mail.prompt_purge_threshhold", true);
user_pref("mail.purge_threshhold", 1000);

However thunderbird has this rather annoying knack of NOT autocompacting (ever
since 0.6).
Using TB 0.9 (20041103)
It keeps prompting me, or displays the error message "this folder is being
processed..." because getting mail and compacting occur at the same time,
sometimes random.

Why can't it compact on exit?
1 Compact AFTER getting new messages
2 Compact AFTER junkmail processing
3 Compact AFTER filter processing

In my opinion this annoying knack really blocks a 1.0 release.
The old netscape communicator worked like a charm.
