Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/0.10.1 StumbleUpon/1.998 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/0.10.1 StumbleUpon/1.998 I am connected through a proxy, and the proxy settings are loaded from http://config.mycompany.com/CONFIG/autoadmin.cgi. I then need to authenticate to be able to surf through that proxy. The authentication PW is saved, encrypted with a master password. On starting Firefox for the first time, my home page usually times out. On clicking on the home button again, I then get asked for my master password, then authenticate against the proxy, and then get to see my home page (all which I would expect to happen on the first try already). I assume there is no need for the initial timeout, as the proxy autoconfiguration does not take so long. If I cancel the automatic loading of my home page almost immediately after starting the browser and then click on the home button again, things progress smoothly, as described above. So I would conclude, there is no need to time out in the first place, as the whole process could well start before the page times out. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Have a proxy that requires authentication 2. Proxy is configured through autoconfig script 3. Save proxy password in Firefox, encrypt with master password 4. Have a home page that loads on browser start 5. Start firefox Actual Results: Loading of home page times out, Firefox does not ask for master password Only on hitting home button again (or browsing to any other website) will Firefox ask for master password and I get to finally see home page. Expected Results: Firefox should ask for master password immediately and show home page after that.
This is likely to be caused by bug 100022. Dupe? Please try downloading your PAC file as a local file (if you can), and using it via a file URL, and see if that helps. You might find this helpful as well: http://www.mozilla.org/catalog/end-user/customizing/enduserPAC.html
