Refreshing the page makes no difference. I verified that the Acrobat Plug-in is installed, and that the PDF file type is registered with it. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.

I get this too. It started for me in FF 0.6, so I upgraded to 1.0. This did not fix the problem. I get a screen with no address field, an indication that FF is trying to load something, and then the message "Done." Leaving this for a long time doesn't change anything. Meanwhile, I can bring up IE 6.0.2 SP, look at the same document, and see Acrobat Standard 6.0.2 loaded and the document come up. I have tried both Acrobat Standard and the latest release of the Reader (loaded through the Mozilla site). P. Jordan-Smith

Sometimes it happens when Adobe Acrobat is performs an 'upgrade search' and then tries to unsuccessfully show you a dialog box. Now I am not sure, but maybe firefox is not able to show you this dialog box and so it leaves the whole thing in a suspended state. One URL that does not launch a PDF for me is: ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/webserver/appserv/v6/WAS_ND_v6_Spec_Sheet.pdf I verified that tools->options->downloads->plugins for PDF is marked as enabled. In addition, when I go into about:plugins, the following information is returned for Adobe Acrobat: Adobe Acrobat File name: nppdf32.dll Adobe Acrobat Plug-In Version 6.00 for Netscape MIME Type Description Suffixes Enabled application/pdf Acrobat Portable Document Format pdf Yes application/vnd.fdf Acrobat Forms Data Format fdf Yes application/vnd.adobe.xfdf XML Version of Acrobat Forms Data Format xfdf Yes application/vnd.adobe.xdp+xml Acrobat XML Data Package xdp Yes application/vnd.adobe.xfd+xml Adobe FormFlow99 Data File xfd Yes

I have the same problem. It was working just fine when I had a Adobe Arcobat 7.0 Reader. Then I got Adobe Arcobat 7.0 Standard installed and removed the Reader. Then I started getting a blank page. I disabled the pdf plug-in and it now prompts me to open a file using Adobe and then it works. In short only the Acrobat Reader allows you to open PDF inside FireFox. Acrobat Standard doesn't work. Please fix this. Thanks, Shriniwas
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050716 Firefox/1.0.6 OK, so I use an old build, but I also experienced (and recovered from) this problem. _Any_ PDF I attempted to open, whether local or from the internet, would cause the entire Firefox window to turn white, with just the title bar showing. All spare CPU cycles were dedicated to Firefox (according to taskmgr.exe). Most of the time, I had to kill the Firefox process to recover, but on a couple of occasions Firefox recovered by itself. In the latter cases, the menu bar, the location bar (with the URL of the PDF), and everything else was present, but the window was blank. The FAQ suggested using the latest version of the plugin. Since my copy of the plugin had been copied from one machine to another (across three or four machines and three years), I checked the plugin. Sure enough, mine was older than the copy stored in the Browser directory of Acrobat Reader: Prior version (does NOT work): 2002-08-13 03:57:12.000000000 -0400 nppdf32.dll 3403206657 103344 nppdf32.dll Later version (DOES work): 2004-12-14 01:19:18.000000000 -0500 nppdf32.dll 384399976 57344 nppdf32.dll Finally, shouldn't this bug be someplace else, since this category has to do with _finding_ plugins, not _running_ them?

It is out of mozilla's control.

I was able to open up the URL in the last comment using Firefox 2.0 and Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0.8 without any issues.

Worksforme. The issues reported sound like we are loading the plugin but it is failing - so not a Mozilla issue here.
