User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.1) Gecko/20040726 Debian/1.7.1-4
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.1) Gecko/20040726 Debian/1.7.1-4

I use Debian unstable Linux, Firefox/1.0 (Debian package 1.0-2) and Mozilla
suite 1.7.1.

When I import my Mozilla 1.7.1 passwords to Firefox using File->Import, they
show up in the password manager, but the input fields on web sites are not
autocompleted.

After restarting Firefox the password manager list is empty.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Import passwords from Mozilla 1.7.1 via File->Import
2. Restart Firefox

Actual Results:
No passwords are saved.

Expected Results:
The imported passwords should still be available.

a) The same seems to apply for imported cookies

b) ... but not for the bookmarks imported at the same time.

Summary: Firefox does'nt remember imported passwords → Firefox doesn't remember imported passwords
Same with me. I use Gentoo Linux and imported from Mozilla 1.7.3 into Firefox
1.0. Bookmarks worked but not passwords. The cookies themselves got imported
but not the permissions of what sites are allowed to store cookies.

My stored passwords are especially important to me and I don't think I'll switch
to Firefox until I can get those imported.
I discovered that data import works if Firefox gets started for the first time
(i.e., no ~/.mozilla/firefox directory exists).
Firefox asks if data from Mozilla should be imported, and if one chooses yes,
the data is still available after restarting Firefox.
That's true (Thanks Moritz!). I had used an earlier version of Firefox but then
uninstalled it, and that folder was left over from before, so I never got the
dialog when I first started Firefox 1.0.

Furthermore, the dialog that appears when you import for the first time is quite
different than the one that appears when you select "File -> Import". In the
latter case, the only option that was available to me was to import from
Netscape/Mozilla 1.x. So it seems the import code is in 2 places, and in one
place it's incorrect. In the "File -> Import" code, it doesn't import as much
as when you first start Firefox - it doesn't import preferences or history, at
least.

What would be the analogous folder to eliminate in Win2K? Just delete my
Firefox profile? I'm having the same problem with an ever-disappearing list of
saved passwords... it's annoying as he** to say the least!

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
