User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 This bug is different than other bug reports regarding "connection refused" because those bug reports are a general configuration issue where NO sites are reachable. In general, I have ZERO configuration issues. To reproduce this bug and understand it, it helps to know that the site in question has a very slow upload link to the internet so it loads VERY slowly. This is true regardless of your own internet connection (broadband or dialup). However the site is functional. If you try to surf to site in IE, youll find that IE patiently waits for it to load and in few minutes (apx 5 minutes) everything is present. With firefox after about 25 seconds one gets the error dialog box "The connection was refused when attempting to contact www.davealex.dnsalias.com" To recap: with this bug, IE yields 100% of this slowloading site, firefox yields zero percent of it. The main unusual item here is the site is a functional, but because of hardware, slow. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. using firefox go to www.davealex.dnsalias.com 2. In apx 25 seconds you'll get error dialog box mentioned. 3. Using IE go to same site. It takes a few minutes but it WILL load. Actual Results: get error dialog box "The connection was refused when attempting to contact www.davealex.dnsalias.com" Expected Results: wait for site to load and display it.

Using 20041107 Firefox/1.0, I just loaded the given URL (somebody's recount of their Amtrak trip to Glacier NP, etc..) with no problem at all. The page loaded a bit slowly from all the pics, but I would guess that's a server issue. Reporter, does that site fail to load for you 100% of the time?

received another email regarding this issue. "I was using the version just prior to the official 1.0 release, the one that received a lot of advertising about a couple of months ago, I知 not sure how long. It was not a Beta that I知 aware of, but a final preliminary version before 1.0, if I have that correct. I used that version off and on for awhile with no trouble." Windows XP

Y find the same bug. Firefox refuses to connect to secure sites or pages. I cant surf this page with Firefox....but with IE. :-(
Guys, do you have Norton Internet Security? If you do, you can go to Personal firewall option, Intenet access control and then add a rule to allow firefox to have automatic access. See if it works for you.

I too am having this problem on win2k lately - still trying to track when it
started, but suspect that maybe it started after installing some nightly builds,
then reverting back to ff1.0.. but it could be other software that caused this
as well. Definately a real problem as well as show stopper for anyone affected -
it would help if some GRE-networking folks could offer troubeshooting tips..
My only non-standard configs in pref.js is:
user_pref("network.http.max-connections", 64);
user_pref("network.http.max-connections-per-server", 8);
user_pref("network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy", 20);
user_pref("network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server", 10);I have the same problem since i install 1.02 security patch. I get the connection refused no matte what url I use. I have no problems when using IE

http://www.davealex.dnsalias.com is down hence inaccessible from neither IE nor FF. It's a matter of the timeout period, so INVALID. (In reply to comment #8) > I have the same problem since i install 1.02 security patch. I get the > connection refused no matte what url I use. I have no problems when using IE I'm afraid it's a different problem.
