User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0

I stitched my whole room to let my friends see how my room looks like...
However, it seemed that when I opened the resulting image in Mozilla Firefox, it
took up 128MB (almost half) of my RAM... It caused my whole computer to slow
down until the image loaded.

However, using Internet Explorer, memory usage was only a third of that and my
computer is still fast.

I am using a Pentium 4 1.4GHz.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a large image
2. Open task manager (ctrl+alt+del)
3. Check thhe memory usage

Actual Results:
It showed that about 128mb of my memory was used in firefox.exe

Expected Results:
It should not have hogged so much memory.
WFM Windows 2003 Firefox 1.0 vs IE6

Steps:
start browser, go to this bug URL

VM Size Results:
IE6: 63 Mb
Firefox 1.0: 76 Mb

Image cache shows that the image is 53 Mb, the image is freed when you go to
another site and Firefox memory goes back to 23Mb
