Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0

When there is a bookmark refering to a device on the local network that is
shutdown, and you click on the "Bookmarks" option on the menu, FireFox will
freeze. Windows gives a "Not Responding" message for Firefox, and the only way
to get out of the problem is to do an "End Task" on Firefox.Exe. The Bookmark
for example could be: "\\10.0.0.1\shared"

If you delete the Bookmark everything returns to normal.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Make a Bookmark that refers to a device on your local area network.
2. Close down the device by shuting down the server.
3. Click on Bookmarks on Menu.

Actual Results:
FireFox will freeze. Windows gives a "Not Responding" message for Firefox.

Expected Results:
Timeout after 2-3 seconds.

I use the default theme. Installed the latest version of Firefox just yesterday.
This bug gives you the impression that Firfox crashes on you. Only if you wait
for a long period of time Firefox will come out of the deep freeze, although the
problem will repeat itself everytime you click on "Bookmarks" on the menu.

ps. To all you progammers and developers...

    "Congratulations on a magnificent job!"

Yes, it is similar in that all cases refer to an unavailable remote device. The
difference with this bug is that it has to do with the Bookmarks option on the
main menu. This option is the most used option for a browser! And okay, I am in
the IT business and found out what the problem was. What do you think an average
user would do when Firfox freezes up every time he hits the Bookmarks button?

Right, uninstall it...
