Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/125.5.5 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/125.11
Build Identifier:

The download link detects the OS used to browse the site, but the screenshot doesn't. This results in
having a "download for Mac OS X" link with a picture of a Windows app.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to www.mozilla.org/products/firefox on Windows
2. Go to www.mozilla.org/products/firefox on Mac OS X
Actual Results:
The link changed, but the picture didn't

Expected Results:
Both the link and the picture should change
The question is if we want platform-specific images. It would be quite a lot of
work since Firefox is released on many platforms.

This would be nice to have. Will log this request to address at Firefox 2 launch this summer, when we update mozilla.com again.

Wontfix means never-fix. If you want to schedule it for a certain later date, I suggest requesting that some "Target Milestone" fields be added to this product and use those.

Thanks David. Still figuring out how Bugzilla works, as you can tell.

I was actually just about to reopen this. We just updated the homepage for http://www.mozilla.com to detect Mac users and display a different image than the one shown Windows users. Steven -- can you do the same treatment for the browser screenshots at http://www.mozilla.com/firefox - i.e., display the Mac Firefox UI rather than the Windows UI?

Status: REOPENED → ASSIGNED
Paul, when you set something to ASSIGNED, please make sure you reassign it to somebody first. By default, all websites bugs are assigned to nobody@mozilla.org (which means nobody has be assigned to it). I am assigning this one to you for now. If steven should be assigned to it, you can change that through the "Reassign bug to ..." option below the "Additional Comments" box.

Will do Reed. Thanks for fixing my mistake here.
-Paul

We're working on creating a Mac specific screenshot to be displayed to Mac users when they visit www.mozilla.com/firefox. Steven from our design firm Silverorange has agreed to take this on.

This is fixed - there is now a Mac screenshot if you hit the Firefox product page with a mac user agent.

I *might* do the same for the Thunderbird page (and maybe a "linux" platform shot) sometime - but this is fixed for now.

should it work now? because it didn't work for me.

timeless: There's a delay between check-in time and the code actually ending up build on the live site (and mirrors). That probably explains why you didn't see it. Let me know if you're still not seeing it.
