User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 StumbleUpon/1.999 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 StumbleUpon/1.999 Sometimes command-enter is what opens a new tab and if I press option-enter it downloads the page. However then after a while command-enter loads the new page in the same tab and option-enter is needed to load a new tab. I am using OS X 10.3.6. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.

Could you give some reliable steps to reproduce? Thanks.

For me with Firefox 1.0.4 on Mac OS X 10.3.9, this issue is not intermittent; it happens every time. I click in the address bar, or press Command-L, then press Command-Return. I expect the current URL to open into a new tab (which ideally would open behind the current one). Instead, the current tab reloads. Thanks to Alex I now see that I can try pressing Option-Return instead, and this does open the current tab's URL into a new tab (although it's in front of the current one). In Camino 0.8.4, pressing Command-Return in the address bar just beeps, and pressing Option-Return clears the address bar. Both of these behaviors are not helpful in the least. In Mozilla 1.8b1, pressing Command-Return in the address bar opens the current URL into either a new window or a new tab, depending on the setting of the checkbox Preferences -> Navigator -> Tabbed Browsing -> Open tabs instead of windows for Command-Return in the Location bar. Both of these behaviors are correct.

In 1.5b1 I still see this inconsistency: option-enter in address bar => open in new tab cmd-enter in address bar => load in current tab option-click a link => download cmd-click a link => open in new tab This non-symmetric use of cmd/option causes me to select the wrong modifier all the time! When hovering over a link it would also be very helpful to see something similar to Safari's status messages (which update as modifier keys are depressed), but I guess that's off-topic for this bug.

This is a duplicate of #237027, no? Still, it would be nice to see it fixed...
