This is a request for a feature change.
I prefer to use a display of 3 vertical panels. However, I am frustrated by
the fact that the header information (From; Subject; Date; Flags) are all
displayed horzontally across the panel. If the subject and/or sender name is
somewhat long, it gets cut off. I can enlarge the field, but then my other
frame for reading messages becomes very small. I hate to say this, but
Outlook 2003 does it "right." That is, the information is "stacked." First
line is name and time sent, 2nd line is subject. Hence, everything is
presented is a nice frame that doesn't have to be so W I D E. Also, they use
a combination of black and grey so the eye visually can pick up the relevant
information.

Reproducible: Always

I'm using a Linux version of Thunderbird 0.9.
I initially had trouble figuring out why I liked the 3 vertical panels in
Outlook, but NOT in Thunderbird. I finally figured out that it was because the
way ALL header information is displayed on one horozontal line makes for a
rather frustrating experience.

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
