Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0
Build Identifier: Thunderbird version 0.9 (20041103)

Some message flags are not copied along when copying mail messages from one IMAP
server to antoher IMAP server. Also, changes to some message flags on the client
are not reported back to the server. I noticed this when migrating mail from one
IMAP server to another. Had to resort to Outlook 2000 for the migration because
of this bug in Thunderbird!

A) When copying mail messages from one IMAP server to antoher IMAP server, some
message flags are copied along, others are not. Details:

- Mark 'flag' : NOT copied
- 'Label' flag : copied OK
- 'Forwarded' flag : NOT copied
- 'Replied' flag : NOT copied
- Read/Unread status: copied OK

B) When changing message flags on Thunderbird client, some flags are sent back
to the IMAP server, others are not. This can be observed by using two
Thunderbird clients viewing the same IMAP account. Some changes done on one
client are reflected on the other client. Other changes are NOT! Details:

- Mark 'flag' : sent back to IMAP server OK
- 'Label' flag : * change from 'no label' to any label : OK
                      * change from any label to other label: OK
                      * change from any label to no label: NOT sent to server
- 'Forwarded' flag : NOT sent back to IMAP server
- 'Replied' flag : sent back to IMAP server OK
- Read/Unread status: sent back to IMAP server OK

So in this case changes to 'forwarded' and 'label' flags are not reported back
to the IMAP server. These changes are retained locally on the client though, but
not sent to the server. Upon reloading, the locally stored changes are still
retained!!!

Client used: Thunderbird version 0.9 (20041103)

Reference tests done with Outlook 2000 (IMAP mail client) and two different IMAP
servers (Washington & Dovecot) to confirm that this is a problem with the
Thunderbird client and not with the server setup.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Some message flags not copied or sent back to IMAP server as specified above.

Expected Results:
Expected all mentioned flags to be copied or sent back to IMAP server.

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
