Middle click doesn't work either to open links in a new tab or to close tabs
when I use a ps/2 adaptor for my usb logitech mouse. Wheel button works fine in
windows, but doesn't work in firefox. I took off the adapter and plugged the
mouse in the usb port and everything works fine.

PS/2 adapter. a middle-click on an existing tab does not close it. but as for
me, middle-click on a link open a new tab.

Could you try left/middle/right-clicking on this testcase? Middle-clicking the
label should display "1". Instruction on how to open this in separate
comment...

Open "Tools > JavaScript Console", click the text area and paste the following
text in it:
open("https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=180953","","chrome");
Press Enter. A window should open, in which you can test. Does middle-clicking
the label show an alert with "1"?

I still have the same problem. I've noticed that the bug appears when I switch
to a dfferent user and then I go back to my profile in Windows2000.
1. I turn on the pc, I open Firefox. Middle-click works fine.
2. I log out.
3. Another user logs in (different Win2000 profile).
4. He logs out.
5. I log in, open Firefox. Middle-click doesn't work anymore. Nptjing happens
middle-clicking in the test case.

I'm not sure if it's a Firefox problem, and not mouse driver's.

No updates for a few months... if you're still able to reproduce this bug using Firefox 2.0.0.3 or the latest trunk build (see comment 8) with a new profile, please file a new bug with detailed steps and driver information.
