Dear Mozilla;

A few days ago I wrote in to congratulate you on replacing the ugly,
unprofessional Cyrillic font in M12 with the new, fine-quality Cyrillic font in
M13. I am sure other Slavicits will also appreciate this new font. It's great.

HOWEVER, I have just tried out the Feb 8 build of M14 and was shocked to see the
old, ugly font back alive and well. Of course, this is to some extent a
subjective matter. However, I feel that the M13 Times-like Cyrillic font is much
more professional and appropriate for reading Russian texts on the Web and is as
suitable for 14 point and 12 point texts as 10 point texts.

It would seem to me that the Russian reader and, in fact, the foreigner reader
in general, deserves a font JUST AS GOOD AND PROFESSIONAL as the English font.

So, I urge you to investigate the matter and restore the new M13 Russian font in
the M14 milestone.

You are all working hard to produce a great browser. Why not give us the best
you can here, too.

Thank you.

We had some ugliness problems with English fonts too. If you have an environment
variable called GECKO_FONT_SIZE_FACTOR, please unsetenv it, and try again.

What is the name of the better font? How many Linux Cyrillic users have that
font? Target M16, after Beta 1 branch.

MY COMMENT:

As I mentioned in my earlier message, I have NO WAY of finding out the
name of the good Cyrillic font, but I can assure you that it was used in
Milestone 13. The Cyrillic font in Milestone 13 is a fine quality
Cyrillic font. It replaced the UGLY Cyrillic font used in Milestone 12
and earlier milestones. But for some reason, Milestone 14 returned to
the UGLY Cyrillic font used in Milestone 12. May I please ask you, for
the sake of a professional Cyrillic look on your Russian pages, to find
out the name of the Cyrillic font used in Mozilla Milestone 13
(thirteen) and restore it in Milestone 15 or 16.

Thank you so much.
