User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 When closing a tab, the active tab is set to next tab (to the right) or if closing the right-most tab, back to the left again. Feature request is to have it switch back to the last active tab. Most common scenario is browing in Tab #1 (with lots of tabs after). Open a link in a new tab, finish reading it, and then you are dropped to the furthest right tab which is the one you likely wish to be in. Less common scenario. I have one website (www.fastbuzz.com) that uses popup windows to drive some functionality. If I turn on Mozilla experimental feature of opening all popups in a new tab any time I click somewhere it pops open a new tab which immediately closes but leaves me on the right most tab (instead of the one I wish to be on). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Three tabs 2. In the tab #1 open a web-page and then open a link in a new tab (it will tab #4) 3. Close Tab #4 and you now on tab #3 Actual Results: You are on Tab #3 which is not the content you were previously on. Expected Results: To be back on Tab #1 which trigger the link.
This has been debated for years. There's an extension that does it <http://extensionroom.mozdev.org/more-info/flst>, but I don't think it's ever going to be the default behaviour. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 105722 ***
