User-Agent:       Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0

I use KlipFolio for RSS and usually I click many links fast to get them loaded
in FF. I have the prefs set so that FF should load links in new tabs. But when I
do this, sometimes things go wrong, and the result follows below. I will attach
a screen shot.

Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1. FF is not loaded
2. click two links in KlipFolio in rapid succession

Actual Results:
I get two windows, one with the broken GUI and one not broken with a webpage
corresponding to one of the links I clicked.

The window with broken GUI looks like this:
1. there is no webpage loaded
2. contains the green update icon
3. the bookmark toolbar is empty, and a right click on the bookmark toolbar
results in a miniscule 4x4 context menu containing zilch.

Expected Results:
Given me one window with two tabs containing the webpages I was trying to load
by clicking the two links, a fully functional bookmark toolbar and no green
update icon.

Using FF 1.0

I see this almost every time i reboot my computer and i click on a link that
launches Firefox

--> NEW
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Ever confirmed: true
I get this result when closing firefox and restart it immediately thereafter;
same result reached by another way. (see Bug 290948)
Some statistics:

On 2 independent PCs (both WinXP) this bug occurs in about 2 of 3 times I start
Firefox - this is really annoying.

The problem occurs under 2 scenarios:

- Firefox started directly (to blank page)
- Firefox started form another application (clicked link in whatever)

-FH
Further observations:

- The requested page seems to be loaded anyhow, because the task bar shows its
title. When I have clicked more than 1 link, closing the disfunctional window
lets forefox ask if I'm sure that I want to cose all tabs.

- When I open firefox and the bug occurs, the attempt to open an additional
window by starting firefox again leads in almost all circumstances to an
additional AND functional window.

Just installed Firefox 1.0.5 (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US;
rv:1.7.9) Gecko/20050711 Firefox/1.0.5).

Bug is not affected by natural self healing powers - it is still there.
Bug still persistent with Firefox 1.0.6.

Just to mention it .... again no self healing .... Bug seems to be persistent even in Firefox 1.07 (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050915 Firefox/1.0.7).

Hey - where are the geeks, willing to slam that bug ?
Just an observation:

The problem occurs frequently when I open the first Firefox window (with icon or link). If I open a subsequent window it may - or may not - show the same problem. If I repeat that, I may finally get a functional window (maybe I need 20 or more tries). Alternative, killing the nonfunctional window and reopen might help too - at least after several repetitions.

Firefox seems to load the pages, because if the window gets more than one link (loaded into tabs ...) and I try to close the window, I get the "you have [n] tabs open ..." reminder. Looks like the display components get stuck ....

Not yet undergone long time testing, but looks like it's gone in Firefox 1.5 !
Let's do a prayer ...
I haven't seen this bug in a long time. Anyone still see this bug?

Hmmm - just explicitly tried to reproduce with (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.6) Gecko/20060728 Firefox/1.5.0.6), didn't occur.

This is IMHO not a proof, but a good omen ....
Seems to be an effect related to this bug: The shown unexpected, empty Firefox window appears when Firefox is called multiple from another application (a mail client in that case) while starting up (i.e. multiple clicking of a link in the mail client).
Marking as WFM based on the last couple of comments. If/when you do see this again in a recent version of Firefox, feel free to reopen.
