Hello, I've migrated from Mozilla 1.7.3 on four machines, all correctly imported my accounts BUT DID NOT IMPORT ANY MESSAGES! This happened on Windows ME/XP, Fedora Core 2 and Red Hat 7.3. I didn't find reference to this sort of behaviour in any of the other bugs so i post this one as new. I see there are more problems in this area, but do not see a structured effort to tackles these problems. I think it is paramount for migration from the following systems to be working before 1.0: Mozilla Outlook Eudora It might be a good idea to open one bug for every platform to work out what needs to be done. Mazzel, Martijn.
I confirm this bug for Thunderbird version 1.0 (20050111). What happens is that the many paths in prefs.js are not consistent with the paths where files have been migrated. This does not only apply to mail folders but also to signatures. For example: Original Mozilla path: /home/username/.mozilla/username/sl4jssqz.slt/Mail/Mail/Signature_Private.txt Thunderbird import copied it to: /home/username/.mozilla-thunderbird/rr6qg2i9.default/Signature_Private.txt But Thunderbird's prefs.js pointed to: /home/username/.mozilla-thunderbird/rr6qg2i9.default/Mail/Mail/Signature_Private.txt Similarly with the mail files: Mozilla: /home/username/.mozilla/username/sl4jssqz.slt/Mail/Mail/pop.mail.net TB: /home/username/.mozilla-thunderbird/rr6qg2i9.default/Mail/pop.mail.net prefs.js: /home/username/.mozilla-thunderbird/rr6qg2i9.default/Mail/Mail/pop.mail.net I think this bug should have a very high priority because it is very frustrating for new users, it is not fixable for a non-expert, and it has a high probability to alienate potential users.

Just imported from Mozilla 1.7.1 and one account ( out of 7 ) failed to bring across any messages. Bit of a problem that you can not reimport from mozilla ?

TB 1.06, Moz. 1.7.11. Import fails. Folder settings ok, but the folders aren't imported. I then noticed that when I check out the path settings for each of the mail folders, (being in a domain environment) my profile directory is shown as the first path and not the "Document and Settings" path. ie. instead of the mail/news placed in the "c:\document and settings\<profname>.<domain>\application...etc, it's placed as "c:\<profname>.<domain>\application.. Which is probably why TB can't see the mail.

After install of Thunderbird and import of correct profile, each 'directory-rel' reference in my prefs.js refers to my old Mozilla profile: [ProfD]../../../../../Application Data/Mozilla/...../account/folder Changing this value to the same value as 'directory' fixes my issue: C:\\Documents..Settings\\user\\App...Data\\Thunderbird\\...\\account\\folder After making these changes for each of my server settings I was able to access all of my mail.

Mozilla 1.7.3 is now a very old build. TB 2 has been released for >1.5 years since the last comment. Does the migration problem to TB 2 still occur?
