I first tried using MKS make (whick I had for other reasons).
This did not work.

Next I downloaded native gnutools that include make, patch, diff,
and others but are truely native and do not require Cygwin.
This did not work.

Finally, I installed Cygwin, which did not include make by default,
the I installed make as well (and binutils, gcc, etc)

Now the 'make -f client.mk pull_all' works like a champ.

Somebody should update the page to save future users this pain.

http://www.mozilla.org/cvs.html might be a better one...

CVS docs on mozilla.org are a mess. There's two docs for source code and two
docs for the website, and they keep falling out of sync.
 see bug 236848 for the "merge cvs source code docs" bug

The official doc for source code is http://www.mozilla.org/cvs.html; I don't
know why people were creating new docs instead of just fixing the one we have.
Please get rid of the other one and fix the cvs.html one as appropriate. I am
happy to review changes if you're unsure of the correct content.

note that this URL now redirects to /cvs.html (per bug 236848 comment 10, it
seems). also note that cvs.html now mentions GNU make; although it does not note
cygwin.
