I don't know if this is a bug or a "feature", but if it is the latter I could do
with a way to disable it.

If I choose "Events in next 7 days" or "Events in next 14 days" and one of my
recurring events occurs more than once in the specified period, only the first
occurrence will be displayed (leaving me to believe that I have less meetings in
the next two weeks than I really do).

It would be better if, for these views, the recurring events were shown as many
times as they do occur within that period.

I am unsure how you would implement it for "All future events" - perhaps in this
case you could display just the one instance (or instances for the next two
weeks) and a symbol or warning text to indicate that it is a recurring event.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create an event that recurs more than once a week.
2. Select "Events in next 7/14 days".
Actual Results:
Event only appears once in table.

Expected Results:
Event should appear 7 times for "Events in next 7 days" and 14 times for "Events
in next 14 days"

This is using the latest build (12th November / 0.2b) of Sunbird, straight out
of the tarball (not built from source) on a Debian sarge machine in the UK.
And how would showing all occurences work with event that recur forever (without
and end date) and asking the unifinder to show all events?
I'm not sure I understand you. I quote from my original bug:

"I am unsure how you would implement it for "All future events" - perhaps in this
case you could display just the one instance (or instances for the next two
weeks) and a symbol or warning text to indicate that it is a recurring event."

Is this not what you are trying to ask about?
sorry, missed that.
But the solution would be very inconsistent, so i'm not too happy about it.
Perhaps there is another solution to the problem, but as it is right now, it is
quite counter-intuitive.

The calendar display of the coming events will show you recurring events as many
times as necessary, as you have chosen a group of days to display.

In the same way, choosing "events in next 14 days" to me implies that I have
chosen a group of days to display and I would like to see all the events coming
up in the next 14 days, not just the unique ones.

I know, as a software engineer myself, that's it's very difficult to find the
middle ground between "sensible" and intuitive (ie. what the user would expect).

I don't know how you will plan to tackle this, or maybe you would like to leave
it alone, but I am sure I am not alone in expecting this functionality when the
interface does something different...
Inconsitency between two widgets is less of a problem then inconsitency within
one widget. So we really need to solve the all events problem.
(and there is no need for advocacy comments, besides makeing sure this bug will
get ignored, because the useful information can't be found)
Sorry if it sounded a bit like an advocacy comment. I was just a little
concerned about being shouted down. I will not comment further unless there is a
development.

This should be fixed in Sunbird 0.3a1, with the exception of the 'all events' problem, which is described in bug 299651. Marking as WORKSFORME.
