bug discussed in more detail: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=169529
Recent versions of Firefox and Mozilla 1.8a5 crash on some sites employing Java.
Does not matter which version of JRE is used. Other java enabled sites run OK.
Probably relates to greatly increased reports of Java JRE related crashes with
Firefox release 1.0. Firefox 2004605 and Mozilla 1.8a4 do not crash at above
site. From discussions on forum, not all users seeing problem, but many do.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Enter URL, will crash browser before page opens
(always happens for me, happens for some others or leaves their browser
in what they term "unstable state".
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Crash that closes browser

Expected Results:
open page and start the java applet that displays financial market charts

crash occurs in js3250.dll, occurs in both release version of Firefox and
Mozilla 1.8a5 (Mozilla trunk):
AppName: mozilla.exe AppVer: 1.8.20041.10305 ModName: js3250.dll
ModVer: 4.0.0.0 Offset: 00033799
I don't know exactly what symptoms the original reporter is seeing, but I was
looking at one of the example sites discussed in an MZ thread at
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=167852. I tried creating a blank
HTML page with nothing but the offending Java applet. Firefox became very slow
and unresponsive. It didn't crash until I tried to quit. Talkback IDs 2077642
and 2080259 are mine.

Yes, I too have had some Java issues with FF 1.0 whether I was using JRE
1.4.2_05, 1.4.2_06, or JRE 5.0 aka 1.5 and it is discussed in detail on this
thread:
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=66165&start=15

Starting with a complete new profile and new FF 1.0 Directory with only default
WinStripe and 'no' extensions, (understanding about Pogo Java Programmers-only
supporting 'what they term' the three major browsers, IE6, Netscape, and
Safari), but sometimes FF 1.0 will load up a game ok (Peeble Beach Golf), then
the next day, same game FF 1.0 will become unresponsive...

I have cleared all FF cookies and JRE 1.5 cache (cookies, applets, ext) too...
about:plugins shows that JRE 5.0 and all its components is properly installed,
and going to any Java Installation Test site, is successful...CPU load is
definately higher in FF 1.0 then IE6 SP2 on any Java site (in my case), and the
actual loading of any particular Java applet is much slower in FF 1.0 then IE6
SP2 on my WinXP SP2 laptop...
dose not matter which site, jre2 dosen't work with any site that uses java. jre2 crashes browser on any attempted logon to any site containing java content. I can reproduce this bug on damand.
