User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 I have downloaded and installed the gmail notifier for firefox 1.0 and ever since I can't open more than one window at a time although the tab feature works. If I close firefox completely then I have to kill the process in order to open it up again. I have tried to reinstall the web browser but it doesn't have an effect. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.

I have tried to reinstall the web browser but it doesn't have > an effect. > > Reproducible: Always > Steps to Reproduce: > 1. > 2. > 3. Same here. It worked fine for me in older versions, however since I upgraded to: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414 Firefox/1.0.3 It fails, and not just on my dekstop, also on my laptop (both running windows 2000) I also installed the gmail notifier.
I have also experienced this bug on a Win2000 machine with Firefox 1.0.3. It repeats after an uninstall and clean install and is not fixed by starting in Safe Mode. I do not have the gmail notifier installed. The Firefox program can only launch a window once per login -- killing the process doesn't allow the program to launch a second time -- in my experience.
I had this same problem. Firefox stopped letting me open new windows yesterday. Restarting/reinstalling/rebooting did not solve the problem. However, this was suspiciously around the same time it prompted me to install the recent updates to the web developer toolbar and the user agent switcher extensions (which I let it install.) UNINSTALLING THESE EXTENSIONS APPEARS TO HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM! I tried reinstalling the extensions to reproduce/narrow it down to a specific one, but now everything is working fine with both extensions installed and enabled. My UA: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414 Firefox/1.0.3
This problem seems to be caused by upgrading User Agent Switcher from 0.6.1 to 0.6.5 or 0.6.6. I've managed to reproduce it specifically in Firefox 1.0.4 by following these steps: 1. Install User Agent Switcher 0.6.1 2. Restart 3. Go to the extension window, and check for an update. Update to 0.6.6 4. Restart, now you should be unable to open new windows, and if you attempt to open a new window, firefox.exe will wedge when you close it, requiring you to end task it.
The same Problem ocsures in Firefox too. Reason for this problem might be the Extension "UserAgentSwitcher" (see: http://chrispederick.com/work/firefox/useragentswitcher/documentation/faq/#faq6) Occures: Firefox (not explicitly tested but several Versions > 1.0) Mozilla (not explicitly tested) Reprocuceable: Yes (Autoupgrade UserAgentSwitcher to newer Version) Similar Problem: Mozilla(BugID= 181705) @see: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=181705 Solution: ********* Uninstall UserAgentSwitcher Restart Mozilla/FireFox Install newer Version of UserAgentSwitcher (if you want)
