Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.0.3705; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)
Build Identifier:

I am using Sun's JVM. It is release 1.4.2_05. I am also using FireFox 1.0.
No prior installation of FireFox is on my system. No prior version of the Sun
JVM is on my system. My OS is Windows XP Service Pack 2.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Activate the FireFox browser
2. Go to a website that activates the Sun JVM
3. I close the browser
4. The system reboots immediately

Actual Results:
The system reboots and FireFox does not remember any of the settings,
bookmarks, etc. that it imported. Also, Windows XP reboots as normal (no safe
mode messages).

Expected Results:
The browser should have closed gracefully and the Sun JVM should have closed
gracefully.

FireFox was installed with the default settings. No plug-ins were being used.
I did receive the following messages only one of the times the system crashed:

This happens to me in Windows 2000 as well, I did look and I had 2 concurrent
JVM's under the Add/Remove Programs: I removed older one, hopefully will
improve, will report back - Joe Eckstein
Reporter:

Can you try to reproduce using the latest JVM version and the latest milestone
build of Firefox using a clean profile? Also, perhaps when you install the
latest version, you could double-check to make sure you have Talkback installed.
Getting a Talkback ID would be great if this is causing a crash before it reboots.

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
