Yeezz guys, you sure were hard to reach. All I wanted to tell you was, that the
guy that translated "Great Britain" to Swedish goofed. I downloaded the EN-GB
spell checker, and in Swedish it says "Storbrittanien". The correct spelling is
"Storbritannien", i.e. single 't' and double 'n'.
I sure hope I got this report properly posted, it's not all that easy you know...

Did you mean en-gb? or sv-se?

This is very odd. The current Swedish dictionary of
http://downloads.mozdev.org/dictionaries/spell-sv.xpi
has the correct Storbritannien in it. The en-GB has none of them, as could have
been expected.
Björn, where did you obtain your dictionary from? And another request: please
change the summary line to something more explanatory, such as "wrong word in
Swedish dictionary".
P.S I don't no a single word in Swedish. I came here by accident.

I must admit I have no idea about how all this works. I reported that a Swedish
translation looked really bad, but I don't understand sh*t about the few
responses I've recieved. If you don't care about the Swedish translation looking
like something that a 12yo produced, please let me know, otherwise please tell
me how I can assist in making the Swedish translation looking at least a
*little* bit more profesional (at the moment there are lots of translated texts
that looks far from professional).

Hmmm... I'm slowly getting the hang of this now. Please be patient with me,
since this is something completely new to me.
What I did was download the Swedish version. When I tried to make use of the
English spelling checker, I discovered that US English was the only one
supplied. This I think is rather strange, since British English is what everyone
outside of the US (i.e. some 95% of the world) is being taught at school.
So, after being told that I couldn't spell 'colour', 'defence' and a lot of
other words, properly, I downloaded the British English spelling checker (and
no, I don't remember now what it was called -- and I can't even find where I can
change it any more). After I did that, and changed to British English, I saw
that 'Storbritannien' was not properly spelled in the menu I was provided with.
Now, does this make any sence to any of you?
Let me just say, that I think that the Mozilla suite, and more specifically so
Thunderbird/Firefox, is the best thing that's happened to the internet the last
half decade or so. In my daily work, as a computer consultant, I think I've
managed to make some 5000 users, or more, switch to the T/F suite, so I really
want to contribute as much as I can to your fantastic work!
Summary: It looks really bad, even somewhat pathetic... → 'Storbritannien ' misspelled in the spelling checker

That's good. As I'm so arrogant as to claim that I can spell Swedish better
than any spelling checkers available, I do not use a Swedish spelling checker. :)

But the menu, where you chose UK English, in the Swedish version of the
program, does. I'm sorry that I didn't manage to make this clear when I posted
my "bug" report, but I was simply overwhelmed by all the radio buttons and other
stuff that I was presented to when I tried to file my report. Sorry guys, but I
think you should try to simplify bug reporting a wee bit...
> Björn, where did you obtain your dictionary from?
I don't remember right now, but obviously I followed links that I was
provided with, when trying to change the default spelling checher.

Sorry about that! As I said, I was simply overwhelmed when trying to post my
report.

So when are you planning to take up the language of the Vikings, the language
that still makes up a third of the English language and large parts of many
other languages, then? :)
Nah, I wouldn't want to force even one of my worst enemies to learn Swedish.
It's probably one of the most difficult languages in the world to learn
properly. I'm just fortunate enough to have learned it when I was young enough
to still be able to learn a language properly.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".
This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.
While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a

(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.
If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.

I just want to add, that this is how you find the misspelled word:
In the "Check Spelling" dialog box, bottom left, there is a pull-down menu where
you choose what language to use. When using UK English, it says
"Engelska/Storbrittanien"

And then when someone should have realized that you meant a misspelling in the file regionNames.properties, which is what creates the second part of the dictionary names in the preferences, nobody did.
Luckily, they seem to have noticed the typo on their own, and it's fixed in Firefox and Thunderbird 2.0.

Yes, this was fixed 2006-04-23 together with some corrections to languageNames.properties.
