I think this is a server issue. I cannot connect anonymously with either Firefox or IE, but IE prompts for a username and password when it fails. I am using Firefox 1.0 on Win XP SP2.
Summary: error: FTP Cannot logon anonimous user. → error: FTP Cannot logon anonymous user.

Email correspondence that should have been on the bug: On Thu, 25 Nov 2004 11:57:55 -0800, Chuck Jones <chucksjc@cox.net> wrote: > You should not be able to logon anonymously. However you should get a > username/password window. My reply: Oh ok. Your bug description is very misleading then. Something like "Firefox does not prompt for ftp username & password when anonymous connection fails" would be better. You should change the priority to Enhancement too, because this is not a feature that Firefox has at the moment. Please keep all discussion on the bug. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ If the reporter or someone with sufficient priveliges could fix the bug summary and severity that would be great.

It's already fixed, and should appear in the next firefox release. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 124561 ***
