Firefox is an absolutely excellent browser. Just have to say that up front. On
thing that I think would make it even better is if I could choose "Load Images",
"For the originating website only", and then choose exceptions for those two
rules. For example, many news sites have most of their presentation images
hosted on their site, but then have their image or Macromedia ads hosted off
site. There are just a few websites that I have visited where pertinent content
for the page is hosted off site, and those sites would be the "Exceptions".
Also, more sophisticated sites are starting to use javascript to
document.write('<IFRAME SRC="http://ad.doubleclick.net..."') or
document.write('<scr'+'ipt language=javascript
src="http://a.tribalfusion.com..."') ads into their site, but the content is
still off site. I have used Guidescope to block images in the past, but it
cannot handle the Macromedia files, and blocking them through the browser would
be the best option.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Firefox.
2. Go to www.cnn.com.
3. Notice that it hosts its images at i.cnn.net.
Actual Results:
Front and center image was blocked.
Expected Results:
Been able to track this page as an exception to the rule that "All pages should
load images only from their own site."
I used the Advanced Query to check Bugzilla, and it didn't seem like there was a
similar feature request/bug report.

Enabled "for originating site only" Loaded cnn.com, header images blocked Added "i.a.cnn.net" to Images Exceptions list set to Allow. Loaded cnn.com, header images shown. There isn't a separate set of exceptions for the originating site setting, its all one set of exceptions for image loading. There's a bug somewhere on having an "Allow Images from foo.bar.baz" when the load has been blocked due to a pref or exception. Once that happens you'll be able to unblock sites directly and reload.

OK, your suggestion has worked for most websites, I guess it was just a caching problem. One exception I've noticed is news.com.com. I have blocked doubleclick.net, ad.doubleclick.net, m3.doubleclick.net (from the javascript), adlog.com.com, and ads.com.com, but the top right advertisement doesn't go away...am I missing something?

Maybe. It seems to be m2.doubleclick.net Easiest way to block ads is to right-click on the image and click the option to block, that way you know you're getting the right server. blocking doubleclick.net blocks all images from any servers ending in doubleclick.net as well

Though it's still in development, I've found that adblock (http://adblock.mozdev.org/dev.html) gets rid of most of the remaining ads, including the Macromedia (Flash) ads...I found the site after trying to find a way to turn the swf plugin off...
