Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)
Build Identifier: 1.7.3
After installing Mozilla, it tries to open the www.mozilla.org home page.
Mozilla hangs, and needs a CTRL-ALT-DEL to delete it. The install never gets
beyond this stage, yet installs on Win XP Pro OK, though needs a reboot to make
it work OK.
I think that this bug has something to do with the installer trying to run the
program before it is registered properly by rebooting first. Also, trying to
access the homepage before installation is finished may have a bearing.
I run Zone Alarm, and there is a serious conflict between these two, as Mozilla
tries to open the homepage before ZA gives it permission, also causing it to
hang. Possibly related....
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. install mozilla
2.
3.
Actual Results:
does it every time I try to reintall it
Expected Results:
obvious - should work!

have you tried installing without ZoneAlarm?

Yes, it still hangs, though I'm not sure if there are still maybe corrupted
registry entries left from the previous attempts which may influence it. Is
this possible?
Perhaps another possibility is I had to reinstall Win2000, and had to reformat
the main hard disk. I made sure my system was fully patched with all updates
from Windows Update before installing anything else. Could this be another
possibility?

During the install, the question pops up "Mozilla is not currently set as your
default browser. Would you like to make it your default browser?" If I
answer 'yes', 'no', or 'cancel', (in other words anything), then Mozilla
freezes up permanently. In other words, the install always fails. Even after a
reboot, Mozilla stays permanently frozen. If I leave this requester alone, then
the browser will open the Mozilla website. I haven't tried opening other
websites. Don't know if it is possible to ignore that requester for long though.
Just to repeat, I am using Win2000 sp4, with all latest post sp4 updates (it is
now also a fresh Windows re-installation on a re-formatted drive since last
post) BEFORE trying installing Mozilla.
This happens on Mozilla 1.7.3, and 1.7.5, but not sure about previous versions.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".
This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.
While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.
If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
