Unlike the Mozilla compose window, the splitter in the compose window can be
dragged up to obscure the Subject field. The results vary depending on whether
the formatting toolbar is displayed.
With the toolbar on, the effect is that the splitter reduces the height of the
bar itself, but the icons remain at full height and are drawn (with their
transparent background) over the Subject line (and attachment panel, if one
exists).
With the toolbar off, the effect is that the splitter simply obscures, to the
point of completely hiding, the Subject line. This has a side effect when there
are several attachments on the message: a small bit of icon/text from the bottom
of the full-height attachment panel displays (and flickers) below the splitter
as it is being dragged; and a smaller bit is redisplayed in the message body
field when the splitter is released.
Default theme; 120 dpi screen resolution.
To reproduce:
1) Open HTML compose window with formatting toolbar
2) drag splitter upwards
Actual results:
Splitter moves upwards, formatting tool icons overlay the subject field
3) Open plain text compose window (no toolbar)
4) add a half-dozen or so attachments
5) drag splitter upwards
Actual results:
Splitter moves upwards, lower part of attachment panel flickers below the
splitter, when splitter is released a little bit of that flickering portion is
shown on the message body.
Expected results: Splitter not allowed to move upwards (or, if it is allowed,
that it reduces the addressing fields from 4 to 2 or 1, not that it interferes
with the Subject field).

In Thunderbird version 2.0.0.6 (20070728) on Windows XP SP2 this bug reproduces partially: there is now whole overlapping of the HTML toolbar, but the whole splitter itself slides under the Subject's textedit box, -- some pixels.
