User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 This used to work on the version before the pr version. Now it's broken on the pr version and I also recreated it on the 1.0 version. My company uses port 8080 for http and you must log in every time you use a computer because the computers there are used by numerous different people on numerouse different shifts. Now the version before pr a little dialog box came up where you could enter your name and password and log into the http server. It don't work now the dialog box never shows up with the last two versions. It just fails to connect of cource now. It's busted ! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.enter any url and hit return 2. 3. Actual Results: the loggin box never shows up, It did before. It gets kicked cause it's not logged on Expected Results: Surf man ! It works as expected on the version one before the pr version. The version we are still using cause the upgrade is busted. I reported in on the firefox bug forum and have yet to get a single solution from anyone in over a month.
Could you give a bit more details as to what kind of system is used for authentication? Is it a proxy, NTLM authentication...
(In reply to comment #1) > Could you give a bit more details as to what kind of system is used for > authentication? Is it a proxy, NTLM authentication... Sorry took so long to come back and check. How am I suppose to find that info out? I'm not the admin. Now I could ask but I work a completly different shift and actualy I don't even know who the admin is. It must be using this. NTLM authentication... Cause like there servers all over the place for different machines / functions. Even if I click on IE I have to log in to the 8080 server, The server is nt 4. Everyone has to log in everytime cause nobody has there "own" computer, Everyone uses the same machines over and over again. You need one you grab a empty one and log on. All I know for sure is it worked perfectly in the version before pr and 1.0, That's actually the version I'm stll using there cause the newer versions are borked ! I seem to remember on installing the newer versions that some damn thing loads. NT athentification. You see something like that on the load as firefox is loading. You see it go by on the list of things installing with firefox first time. That modual is not in the pre pr version that works. Like it's just not prompting for you to log in, if there was a way to set it up in the ini file it would work but I don't know how to do that. That will not save most people on a internal lan though.
It's confermed Damn IT !!!! Every time you try it dosen't give you the log on screen. This bug is still preventing me from upgrading to firefox 1.0 Big deal right? Almost no extentions work with 0.9.3 I want to upgrade and 1.0 is Borked on the company LAN. You Can't log in !
Severity: major → critical
I figured I seen the extention switch proxy so I figured that will work put that in there with Firefox 1.0 Nope ! It still don't ask you to log on like in firefox 0.9.3 and dies with this error instead.... Technical Information (for support personnel) * Error Code: 407 Proxy Authentication Required. The ISA Server requires authorization to fulfill the request. Access to the Web Proxy service is denied. (12209)
And the proxy settings are all correct? Sorry that there is so little feedback. But as you seem to be the only one with this problem and because it's almost impossible to diagnose a problem without being able to reproduce it oneself there's little chance of it getting any further. You could try to find someone with some networking knowledge and try to diagnose the problem further on the premises or try to find someone on irc or the forums who can help you further. And definitely try the latest stable version of mozilla to see whether it makes a difference. Good luck.
Try the latest version of Mozilla to see if it works... Did you read the bug? THE LATEST VERSION IS THE PROBLEM. It works as expected with firefox .0.9.3 It does not work properly on all versions after that. YES IT IS SET UP PROPERLY. I'm Using Firefox .0.9.3 right now and if it was not set up properly I could not be here to type this in. It askes you to loggin and even remembers your stuff for next time. The new versions that dialog box never shows up. I've been on the other groups first before I came here. Nobody has given me a solution yet. The new version thinks your already logged in or something but that's not true. Your not log in, You have to log in. It's kinda hard to do that if the dialog box never comes up for you to enter the proper name and password. Is there a way to enter that data into the cfg file?
I just tried firefox 1.0rc2 The bug is still in that one too You cannot login, no dialog box ever shows up to let you enter the info name / password.
I tried Mozilla build 2005013106 it works !!!!! Holly c^&p you're not loggen on here is the box enter your data. Thanks surf ! Big deal that's not the program I'm having problems with and it's not the program I'm trying to get to work. It works in Firefox 0.9.0.3 too big deal it does not solve my problem of trying to upgrade firefox so I can get the spelling checker extention to work, that part does not work with 0.9.0.3 and almost every other extention. It's not only my bug and I'm the only one who noticed it. Everyone on a internal network like this is having the exact same problem if you have to log on to get on the web. I know ther having the problem because the box don't show up. As for the settings. I'm actually not even changing any settings. It finds my profile that I'm using for 0.9.0.3 and uses them over again. I looked at the settings there too to see if something got changed. nothing has got changed. Kill 1.0 click on the 0.9.0.3 firefox icon and I'm on the web the box shows up I enter my data and I'm on the web. You introduced this bug somehow after 0.9.0.3 and i've been trying to get it fixed since. or a work around or anything.
Ok just so you know I tried everything I went and found a different box installed firefox 1.0. A winders 2000 box. Amazingly it works. It actually does not ask you for the loggin information It just goes on the web when you point it to port 8080. So the bug is with this piece of c**p NT box. Still don't save me though got to put the other box back. I'll talk to the it guys and see if they'll burn this box. Or it's the forklift into the bin. After I drive over it a few times for good measure.
Thank's for investigating. As new Firefox versions will come from the same code base as mozilla things will hopefully work again.
Moving tentatively to core/networking. As this seems to be fixed on the mozilla trunk someone probably knows a bug to dupe this to. Confirming due to description of reporter.
