User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0

If the cursor is in a textarea (i.e. it has the focus) such as right now typing
this, turning the mousewheel does not scroll the page. If i click somewhere out
of the textarea, the wheel works. I have a Microsoft Intellimouse that works
with IE and when textareas are not focused. This problem does not affect
single-line textboxes

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. go to any page with a textarea (examples: this page, or any thread in the
mozillazine forums
2. click in a textarea to focus it
3. try to scroll the page with the mouse wheel (turn the wheel)
Actual Results:
Nothing happened, i.e. the page did not scroll.

Expected Results:
The page should have scrolled.

I am using the Qute 2.1.4 theme, with 25 extensions:
adblock, flst, miniT, tab clicking options, tbp, super dragandgo, tripleselect,
undoclosetab, autologin, forecastfox, quicknote, copy plain text, nuke anything,
firefox view, cute menus, popup ALT attribute, goup, ieview, mouse gestures,
tabscroller, openbook, embuttons, view cookies, enhanced history manager

I started with a fresh profile and the problem still occurred.
OS: Windows XP → All
Hardware: PC → All
WFM using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a6)
Gecko/20041221 Firefox/1.0+.
aha -- I am using:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0

note rv:1.7.5 and Gecko/20041107, I see that you have 1.8a6 and 20041221

is this a nightly? if so (or if not), where can I get the version you have?

(just as a side note, right now typing in this reply box, I cannot scroll the
page with the mouse wheel)
Attached file Example - Test Case
This test case demostrates the bug. As no scroll bars are present in the
textarea the page should scroll.
agreed, greg. thx for the attachment. the problem still exists using
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0
I am using the latest nightly, available from
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/

Try using 2004-12-30-08-trunk's version. If you cannot reproduce it with that
copy then this may be closable.
score! thanks for the nightly tip

I am now running Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a6)
Gecko/20050101 Firefox/1.0+ and the problem with the textareas is gone

btw: this nightly silently breaks the Mouse Gestures extension (it just doesn't
work) although All-in-one Gestures works
probably only because it is a nightly
AiO works fine, but I like MG a little more because it shows in the statusbar
what gesture you are making and what it will do before you actually do it,
unlike AiO which shows the action after it happens (I will probably just delve
into the source code and fix this myself tho)
