User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win 9x 4.90; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040206 Firefox/0.8 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win 9x 4.90; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040206 Firefox/0.8 Each time Mozilla crashes which is always a delight to me. this "Quality Agent Feedback" bug always comes up, this invasive intruder was seen in former versions of the "Tacoma Narrows Bridge" software package which sent out detailed information of the computer user to the Tacoma Narrows Software Company with out any prior consent please help us fix this dreaded bug. So Mozilla can maintain its integrity thankyou. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Crash Mozilla 2. 3. Actual Results: This Bug comes up trying to send data back to Source Software. and I am not sure if Source Software is simply a subsidiary of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge Software Company. :) Expected Results: Crash and Die as expected

I think this is invalid, also maybe UI in TB could maybe be improved, regarding what data is sent, etc. Reporter: The crash data is sent to mozilla.org, not to Source software, nor to Tacoma Narrows Software Company. Your data will be handled confidential, only very few people have direct access to the crash data. There is a public interface (talkback-public.mozilla.org), where you can query talkback data, but only the stacktrace, your comment, the url you visited, when it crashed and your OS is shown there, nothing else. No IP or e-mail is shown, so you can't trace back the data. Other other data like part of the memory content, your computer name, etc. (you can review the data that is being sent in the Talkback window) can only be viewed by very few people.

As an added note, the talkback agent doesn't send any reports unless you agree to it. You can of course opt out at any time. Given that I think the expectation of the reporter is that we stop using Talkback (and thus deprive ourselves of useful data in building a more stable product) the only expected resolution would be WONTFIX.

Reporter: Please let us know if you understand what the last couple of comments are saying. If we have misunderstood your problem, please clarify exactly what you think it is. What exactly is the Tacoma Narrows Bridge software? Did that software also have some sort of "quality feedback agent"? Leaving unconfirmed for now, but I think this should actually be marked invalid.

I´m using talkback often, when I´m looking at URLs from crasher bugs. I always have to cobfirm three times, before I can fill in my comment, and then have to decide to submit or to cancel. Talkback never sends automatically. Maybe there is a miscomprehension: If a crash did crash you windows and/or internetconection so talkback cannot connect, or the talkbackserver is down, talkback tries to send the report next time when you start mozilla. It only starts, if a report submitted by you couldn´t be delivered. If had canceled, it doesn´t start. If you don´t want talkback, you can do a custom install, and deselect it, when you install. If you don´t want it, don´t trust it, just don´t install it. But I would suggest, next time when it crashes, confirm, until you can see the form where you could fill in your comment, then click the button details, and have a look what will be reported, what you can deselect from being reported, and then go back and decide, if you want to cancel, or submit. I´m running Zonealarm as Personal Firewall, and I´ve got to confirm to ZoneAlarm, that Talkback can pass, it is independent from allowing Mozilla to pass the firewall. Of course this piece of software is also used by other companies, and can report automatically. But Talkback must be configured for the release you are using, it is useless, if you copy talkback from a nightly a day older or a day younger to your Mozilla. Talkback maybe will start on a crash, but the data transmitted will be without use. More info over there: http://www.mozilla.org/quality/qfa.html http://www.mozilla.org/quality/qfa.html

Marking Invalid. Mozilla's Quality Feedback Agent does not send any data to either Source Software or Tacoma Narrows Bridge Software... only to Mozilla. And as other have noted, you can opt out of Talkback at anytime.
