Account setup with "Local Folders" directory on network drive.
Whenever Mail is started, the program makes many repeated accesses to the files
in the Local Folders directory.
On a LAN this is not so important, but when dialled in on a modemline it makes
program startup much slower.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Setup user account with Local Folders on a networkdrive
2. Start some network trace tool
3. Start Mozilla -mail and observe network traffic

Actual Results:  
See attachment.  Lots of accesses to the same files over and over.

Expected Results:  
Only a quick scan of the directory structure.  Not many accesses, certainly not
when the Local Folders are collapsed in the overview pane.

This is a network trace during Mozilla startup.
All profile info is local on the machine (is in %USERPROFILE%)
Shown traffic is to the drive where Local Folders are located, in the
directory:
\Mail\Local Folders

we're basically checking the special folders like drafts, unsent messages, etc.
If they don't exist, it looks like we do look for them multiple times

The following files do exist in the \Mail\Local Folders directory:
Drafts
Drafts.msf
Sent
Sent.msf
Templates
Templates.msf
Trash
Trash.msf
Unsent Messages
Unsent Messages.msf

There are no other files or subdirectories.
Especially the Junk.msf seems to be missed much :-)
(I wonder what use a Junk folder is in Local Folders?)

Alternatively, it would be nice if we could completely get rid of the Local
Folders.  The main mail accounts are IMAP and those Local Folders just confuse
the user.
But that is adequately covered by bug 110672

MASS-CHANGE:
This bug report is registered in the SeaMonkey product, but has been without a comment since the inception of the SeaMonkey project. This means that it was logged against the old Mozilla suite and we cannot determine that it's still valid for the current SeaMonkey suite. Because of this, we are setting it to an UNCONFIRMED state.

If you can confirm that this report still applies to current SeaMonkey 2.x nightly builds, please set it back to the NEW state along with a comment on how you reproduced it on what Build ID, or if it's an enhancement request, why it's still worth implementing and in what way.
If you can confirm that the report doesn't apply to current SeaMonkey 2.x nightly builds, please set it to the appropriate RESOLVED state (WORKSFORME, INVALID, WONTFIX, or similar).
If no action happens within the next few months, we move this bug report to an EXPIRED state.

If you still can reproduce the bug on SeaMonkey 2 or otherwise think it's still valid, please REOPEN it and if it is a platform or toolkit issue, move it to the according component.
